The biggest problem with Cats is that it wasn't terrible enough or good enough to be a truly memorable experience. Not so bad that it was so bad it was funny but not really amazing either. The only really out there scene was the vore which was pretty surprising to see in a PG movie but also didn't really shock me since I've been around the furry community most of my life. I thought the cats were fine? The dancing was enjoyable. I would have preferred Phantom more if everyone had ears and a tail. I have seen some true Cats musical lovers hate the movie, but I've also seen people who genuinely like both.

I thought most musicals were mostly music? I thought what made an opera was the style of singing, which, admittedly, Phantom had some of what I think of as opera music for the opera within the opera as it were. I thought that music was fine but reading up on it, apparently some people think it's brilliant with certain choices such as the difference in style of music that was written by the Phantom vs the rest of it etc.

Romeo and Juliet is definitely overdone. My favorite is probably Macbeth just for the poetry, but I am not extremely well read in Shakespeare and I have not read or seen all the plays usually cited as the best. I'd like to read or see Othello sometime. I never could get into the comedies. I guess they always felt like how when you have to explain a joke, it's not funny? Might be different if I was raised in the culture or something. But I usually prefer sad movies, too.
